Where I Grew Up
I grew up in a part of West County of St. Louis, MO called Creve Couer, which is named after a tragic love story between a French explorer and a Native American woman. My older brothers, Adam and Aaron, and my parents still live in STL although I have extended family throughout the U.S. Apart from studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland at Trinity College Dublin, I lived in St. Louis my entire life until 2012. My cousin Peter and I are in somewhat similar fields.
Outside of science, I play the violin, love coffee, and am very interested in powerlifting and canoeing. One of my favorite films is Apocalypse Now, which is inspired by Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, and I have a strong preference for thought provoking film. On a lighter note, I regularly sketch pictures of Homer Simpson, and have a near encyclopedic knowledge of the Simpsons.
